Welcome

Happy Spring! I hope that you and your families have been able to get outside and enjoy some of the nice weather when we have had it. It is hard to believe but we will be embarking on our final ten weeks of the 2025-2026 school year as you are reading this newsletter. As I finish my second year as your Remsen Elementary Principal, I want you to know how very grateful I am for this opportunity. This district is full of amazing teachers, faculty, staff, administrators, Board of Education members, families and most importantly the most amazing students!

The months since our last newsletter have been busy here at Remsen Elementary. During the month of February our Elementary Drama Club presented “The Wizard of Oz: The Deleted Scenes.” What remarkable young actors and actresses we have! We celebrated Valentine’s day with our students with classroom parties and fun activities. Students celebrated the one hundredth day of school, many dressing as 100 years old. Our pre-kindergarten through third grade students were able to attend a Sweetheart Dance with their parents that was sponsored by the PTG. The night was full of fun and dancing with a packed house!

March continued to provide many exciting opportunities for our school. We kicked off our One School, One Book event with an assembly. Students participated in many events that went along with our book for this school year, Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The PTG sponsored our finale which allowed every student in pre-k through sixth to attend the viewing of the movie at The Strand in Old Forge. First and second graders were paired with seventh and eighth graders for a Read Aloud Day event. They read together, created bookmarks, and enjoyed a snack. What a great way for our older and younger students to interact with each other! Our third graders performed for their parents in a Recorder Recital and our fourth through twelfth graders performed as soloists and large ensembles during our Music In Our Schools Month Concert. We have so many extremely talented students in our district!

The final ten weeks are sure to go by quickly. Please look for notifications through ParentSquare, on our website, or through hard copies sent home with your student. There are many more exciting opportunities to come throughout April, May, and June.

Thank you for consistently supporting your students and our school. I will be forever grateful to work in a school district that has such a remarkable community. Remsen is truly the place to be!
