Degrees and Certifications:
Dear Remsen Families,
It is incredible to think that we are already just over halfway through the 2018-2019 school year. So much learning and growing has taken place already this year and there is still much more to come. As I visit classrooms each day, it is great to see students engaged in learning and excited about the discoveries they are making. Whether it is discovering deciduous trees in kindergarten, exploring the seven continents through Google Expeditions in third grade, or drafting quality informational texts in fifth and six grade, students at Remsen Elementary are hard at work and having fun.
December was a very busy month at the elementary school. It marked the conclusion of the first trimester, parent teacher conferences were held, our students performed in two concerts and the holiday season was celebrated in various ways. Our first trimester Evening of Excellence was held on December 17 to recognize many of our students for their academic and behavioral achievements. Throughout the month of December, it was wonderful to see the generosity and joy-in-giving that our students, faculty and staff displayed through events such as the non-perishable food drive and the kindergarten mitten and pet supply drives.
January and February are not as packed full of events as December. However, throughout these months we have the opportunity to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day. We are also able to enjoy performances from our beginner band and our third grade students with recorders. Finally, February includes our Mid-Winter Recess from the 18th through the 22nd.
As you can see, we are working hard and having fun at Remsen Elementary. Looking ahead to March, we have Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten Registration, the end of our second trimester and our second trimester Evening of Excellence. If you have any questions or would like to chat, please do not hesitate to contact me.
