“Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.” - Albert Einstein

Just like riding a bicycle, finding and maintaining balance, gaining momentum and continuing to move forward is a large part of what life seems to be about right now; this includes life at school.  As changes and uncertainty continue to come our way, we seem to be coming to a point where we are now beginning to move on and move forward. Here at school, this has meant that we have had the exciting opportunity to return to many in-person activities and events. Throughout the fall and into the winter months, we have been able to enjoy concerts, ceremonies and other activities and gatherings. Our students have been able to come together for clubs and activities and our before and after-school programs have been able to take place. It is wonderful to be able to once again offer these opportunities for our students and to celebrate our students through these events and activities.

Our elementary clubs have been particularly exciting to watch this school year. The Elementary Drama Club recently performed for the first time, presenting the play “Storyville” by Lorraine Thompson. The play consisted of a series of familiar, fun and entertaining tales all woven together into an enjoyable story. Our students performed wonderfully and put on an excellent show. The Elementary STEAM Club meets regularly, participating in a variety of very engaging STEAM-related activities, experiments and problem-solving challenges. Over the coming month, our STEAM Club members will be preparing for the first ever elementary STEAM Fair. The Elementary Student Council has been active this year as well. Our Student Council members have helped with school-wide projects such as our Valentines for Healthcare Heroes and are also regularly looking for ways to make our school better for our students. These are just a few ways that we are moving forward and continuing to provide opportunities for Remsen students.

Looking ahead through March and into the months to come, we will be celebrating reading with Read Across America Day and other events and activities, moving into the third and final trimester of the school year and continue to look for ways to celebrate our students’ achievements and abilities through concerts, presentations and other activities. We will continue to look for ways to keep on our “bicycle” moving forward, in order to maintain balance and to provide new opportunities for our students. Before we know it, spring recess will be here and the end of the school year will be rapidly approaching. It is amazing how quickly each school year moves along.

As always, if you have any comments, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. It is only in working together that we will be able to provide the best for the students of Remsen Elementary School.
