Throughout the month of November, we focus on thankfulness and gratitude as we approach the holiday season. Having an “attitude of gratitude” and focusing on what you have to be thankful for creates an overall shift in perspective. Difficult situations, challenges, times of need and the unknown can seem much more manageable and possible when you focus on being grateful for the folks around you and the things and situations that are a part of your life. During this season, I am very grateful for the students, staff and families that we have here at Remsen. We have wonderful people, who are always working hard and who have the ability to come together as a team in an amazing way. With a team like this, it is always possible to keep moving forward to great things. Thank you for being a part of the Remsen team.

The past few weeks have been very busy in the elementary school. The month of October ended, as it has the last few years, with our annual parade of costumes. This year, we were pleased to once again be able to hold our costume parade outdoors so that our event could be shared with families. Students and staff had a wonderful time displaying school spirit with their black and orange attire and their Halloween costumes. Over the next few weeks, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving, ending our first trimester of the school year and then finishing off 2021 with Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

By now, I hope that you have had the opportunity to get into ParentSquare to send and receive messages with your child’s classroom teacher(s) and other school staff. Over the last few weeks, we have been sharing information about ParentSquare, our new communication platform, that we will be using for the majority of our school-to-home communications. Once we are all very familiar with the platform, I think it will be a very powerful tool for our school. If you have any questions about the platform, how it will be used, or how to navigate it, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Please be sure that you are connected and that the most current contact information is in the system so that you are set to receive the most recent information from the school.

I look forward to bringing 2021 to an end together and beginning 2022 as a part of this great team. Again, thank you for your support and partnership in working together for the students of Remsen. If you have any questions or needs, please do not hesitate to contact me.
