Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest

Several student from the Remsen Central School District performed exceptionally well in the Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest at Adirondack High School, sponsored by Boonville Lodge #2158.
The Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest is a national program for boys and girls ages 8-13. Each student has 10 minutes to warm up and then shoots 10 free throw shots for a score. After all contestant in an age-group have finished their initial 10 shots, each contestant shoots an additional 15 shots for a total of 25 scored shots. Students age 10-13 shoot from within the free throw circle and behind the free throw line, while students in the 8-9 year-old age-group shoot 4 feet in front of the regulation foul line.
In the boys division, Wyatt Broadbent placed 1st in the 12-13 year-old age-group and Adam Jones placed 2nd.
Andrew Jones took 1st place in the 10-11 year-old age-group, Brian Secor placed 2nd and Mitchell Fox placed 3rd. Andrew was also the overall high shooter for the competition.
In the girls division, Ellie Secor placed 1st in the 8-9 year-old age-group and Colleen Fox placed 2nd in the 12-13 year-old age-group.
Wyatt, Andrew and Ellie will all advance to compete at the Elks District Hoop Shoot Contest in Herkimer.
