Mrs. Piaschyk
I am proud to be at Remsen teaching 5th grade for the sixth year in a row. I am responsible for teaching all 5th graders Reading. I also teach my homeroom Writing, Science, and Social Studies. Before teaching at Remsen, I was a fourth grade teacher at Holland Patent Elementary School for 2 years. I spent the years of 2008-2013 happily raising my young family at home. The start of my teaching career was as a special education teacher right here at Remsen for 8 years. I teach for the love of learning! The gift of learning should be cherished every day. I continue to learn and grow and love to pass my enthusiasm toward learning on to others. I love to build experiences and knowledge in our youth.
My own education is one that I cherish dearly. I went to Remsen Central School for my entire childhood. After graduating high school in 1996, I attended college at Plattsburgh State University. There I earned a Bachelors' degree in both Elementary Education and Special Education. I began teaching in January of 2001, the month after I graduated from college. During my early years of teaching as a special education teacher, I obtained my Master's Degree in Literacy from Cortland State University. I continue to further my education through coursework and experiences.
While I am not busy at school, I can usually be found doing something outdoors with my family. I love to go camping, hiking, biking, fishing, running, mountain climbing and other outdoor activities. I love to travel and build experiences with my family. I also love to play volleyball as well as coach others in my favorite sport. One of my other passions is to read. I take it upon myself to always be reading books that I can recommend to my eager reading students. No matter the season, I love to be busy! My two young children, husband and career see to it that I always have something to do. That is just the way I like it!
